This is very unusual. I can´t remember when the last time was we had such long, icy cold winter, I think it is about 20 years ago. Now we have had continual frost since the first snow fell 16th December. 2 nights ago it was minus 17 degrees, and yesterday the temperature rose to minus 4, but with wind too, it is SO cold.

The waters in the harbours is beginning to freeze, and it gives problems to the ships.

The ducks are swimming in icy waters.

The coastlines are filling up with ice.

The sign says No diving, but I´m told 9 people goes down here every morning for a quick dip, brrrrrrr.

I bet, these two are happy for their warm coat.

And the other day the sun came out, and gave a beautiful polar sunset.

Thankyou Ruth for posting these. Having put up with an unusually hot summer here, it is refreshing to see some cold weather, and boy, does it look cold. I don't think I would be out and about in that climate, it looks way too chilly....

I love looking at your beautiful country, it gives me some insight into what some of my ancestors had to contend with.
I look frorward to your next lot

Very nice Ruth - Like the iced-over no diving sign - don't think many would be wanting too with the water that cold

Pretty ponies also :)

I didn't realise the water on the shoreline froze like that. Thanks for posting that photo. Love the no diving sign. Are they fiord (I think) ponies? Does the stripe in their mane go all the way to their tail?

Thanks everyone for looking.
To clm738:Yes the coastline freezes and can go far out to sea if the frost continues. The waves will break up the ice and press it in to the coast. I will keep an eye on it, for the forecast is frost for a long time. Yes they are fjord ponies and the stripe goes all the way down.
