Has anyone got experience with a K20D in low light (indoor) situations ? I can't seem to get my shutter speed over 1/60, even with 800 ISO. What is the best Mode to put the camera in ?

G'Day & Welcome to AP (first post)

You will need to use Av or Manual mode (not Auto).
Obviously it depends on the exposure triangle.
To maximise your shutter speed set your ISO to 800 (or more), aperture to its widest (lowest number).

This is not a K20D specific problem, all camera's face the same issue.

What lens are you using?
Eg. My 50mm f/1.7 gives me much better options than the 50-500 (f/4..6.3)

Hi Kym,
thanks for that. I have the 18-250 mm Pentax zoom. It's f/3.5 at 18mm, so no, it's not a fast lens.
As I'm new to digital SLR photography (after dabbling with film SLRs) I have a lot to learn. I use the 'P' setting on the K20D. Regards, Gus.

BTW: A 50/1.7 manual lens can be had on eBay for <$50

Hi Kym, thanks for your advice. I just got a "A" 50/1.7 and a "M" 50/2.0 on eBay pretty cheap. They work really well indoors. DOF is great too. I'm still learning these photography terms and abbreviations !
