The first major event for 2010 in the district here, is the Tumbarumba Rodeo.

Making out like you are eating grass won't fool this bull, I suggest you run!

They are under starters orders! The gun goes off and they are racing!!

Who will win? the Bull or the clown?

Great start by the clown, off like a bullet, can the bull catch him?

The bull lines him up for a second time, who will have the better top speed in this race?

Thank you both. It was a fun day and the 50D and 100-400mm lens combination was just idea excpet for the few times when they came a bit close.

Great series Ralph :th3: the metering is working very well with that contrast range.

Great series Ralph :th3: the metering is working very well with that contrast range.

I have to confess to a small tweak in PS's shadow and highlights to even out the balance but basically we had good light most of the day with high cloud cover. Also made being outdoors for 6 hours more endurable than in past years where it was closer to 40Deg.C than the 28 it was Yesterday.

Great action photos. Colours are good and focus is where it should be.

I would not swap places with that guy.

I always feel so sorry for these rodeo animals.

The life of a rodeo bull is better than their alternative :) After all, when you consider that they are usually only bucked out twice in one night - that's a maximum of 16 seconds work for the night - better than being a Maccas burger.

Love the shot's. Good focus & comp - wish our rodeos were durig the day ;)

One of my favourite subjects to shoot and gee have you done a wonderful job here!! Don't think I could better these, all the action, the dust and sheer panic....massive fan of your work:jumping11:

great photos. And as a side note I have just moved from Tumbarumba after being there for 7 years. Was a coincidence to see shots of Tumbarumba considering what a small town it is.
