Hi guys , after some advice on which lens might give me the best results . I'm going out tonight to have a go at some milkyway shots and am a bit unsure which lens to use , I've got my D80 , now from the following lense choices which would you use
18-200 , 50 , 28-105 or 10-24 , any advice on some starting points for settings would be appreciated

Cheers
Steve

Given that your 50 is presumably the f/1.8 version - go with that one. You'll want a fairly wide aperture, high iso and shortish shutter (< 10 secs if possible) in order to get stationary stars. If the lens has a distance scale, manually focus to Infinity and open it wide (f/1.8 or f/2).

Yeah it is the 1.8 , how high would you go with the ISO and should I turn the NR off.
Cheers in advance Dave

Go 1600 Iso,wide open and take 10-15 shots @30 seconds, then take 5 darks and run them through Deep Sky Stacker(free download).Have fun.
Kev.
P.s.Turn NR off,DSS willtake care of it.
