I know most email setups only allow files sizes of 10mb or smaller to be sent but is it possible to somehow make a RAW or PSD file suitable to be emailed? Zip folder or something (but I don't know how to zip a folder..)?

I want to send an image to a friend for him to do some work on but would prefer him to have the best possible file to work with from the start which means no JPG allowed ;)

I have cropped a pic in Camera Raw, opened it to CS4 and saved it as a PSD file without any other PP. From what I can see it is currently 20.9mb and 3371 x 2167 pixels

My email program is trying to load the attachment as we speak but I don't think it will work as the Compressed Zip Folder (I worked it out -easy really) is still 17mb.

easiest way is to use an online storage faciity.

Something like www.hotlinkfiles.com which you setup, upload your file to, and then send the link to your friend so they can download a copy

An alternative to Rick's suggestion i f you want to email the file and it's too large download jsplit (http://sourceforge.net/projects/jsplit/) (or a similar utility), this will allow you to split the file in to a number of manageable smaller components and send.

At the other end the user will need to use jsplit to reassemble the zip archive, you can send jsplit or get them to download.

Another one that I guess is similar to Rick's sugestion is www.yousendit.com (http://www.yousendit.com)

Have used it a lot with good results.

Cheers all.
I ended up using the site/program called Mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/index.php) :th3:
