Just this morning I was thinking I needed some material for my latest photography project, and realised that I had no idea where to get it, but more on that in a minute !!

Then when I was reading the forum tonight I came across this post.....

I need to make a snoop, but all the art suppliers I've been to in Sydney so far don't have thin black foam. They have thick black foam, foam board, nothing that's flexible? :confused013

And realised that I actually knew the answer......

If you Google "A Better Bounce Card", you'll see that I needed supplies similar to what I think you're looking for.

Lincraft came to the rescue !!

Hope this helps,

So I thought it would be useful if we Aussies had a place where we could ask fellow Aussies where they have been able to find materials that they need that they have seen on overseas sites.

To start the ball rolling, I am looking for Foam-Core boards. I want to use them to flag off my background lights, so ideally they'll be around 1200mm - 1800mm tall and say 600mm wide, so I can make a duct-tape "hinge" and have them standing up, between the background lights and the camera / model.

Any ideas ?

Many thanks,

HappySnapper.

Signwriters use them all the time - ge land agents signs. Ask one where he gets them.

Thanks for the reply but.........

I think you'll find the stuff you are talking about is "CORFLUTE is a hollow fluted plastic board that is manufactured from lightweight extruded polypropylene." (Corrugated plastic)

The stuff I'm looking for is "FOAMCOR is polystyrene Foamcor bonded between paper liners".

Smaller pieces are do-able, but I'm looking for a "full-sheet" size.

HappySnapper, do you specifically need foamcore?

It will cost quite a bit more than a 2.4 x 1.2 x 0.020 sheet of corflute which is readily available from most sign writers or their suppliers.

If you want the real deal in foam core have a look at http://www.marksco.com.au/display.php?PHPSESSID=1508491712b5956a43bc8ff58cfedc4b&groupID=3&Submit=GO

They are listing 5mm sheets at 1524 x 1016 and should be able to let you know where to buy from.

Quick edit, they have a stockist finder on their page. :)

Try your local picture framing shop - they should be able to get black foamcore

I always find Foamcore (Black and White) in 'Riot Art" stores

http://www.riotstores.com.au/

I use perspex for product shots (black and white) these can be found at any glass supplier or perspex specialists. I have even found a large white one at Bunnings.

Good Luck

Where are you located?

If in SA, I believe Con from noah's art may be able to helpyou out...

Just this week I bought a 1 metre by 80cm sheet of foam core board, at Riot Art for $15 - nearly half the price that a picture framers wanted to charge me for the same size. It's white, so it may not be any good for your purposes, but it is paintable.
