View Full Version : I want to put a new processor in my computer

to make the thing a bit faster and make it live a bit longer, I have a Asus p4p800 motherboard, with a intel 2.8Gig cpu, what could i change it for for not to much money.........I know if i go to a computer store i probably get some answers too but i like to know a bit before hand...........

Its the older 478 socket so you may have trouble getting a CPU. The CPU's faster than 2.8Ghz were much more expensive.

My recommendation given the age is not to bother. You have 2GB on a HT CPU.
You need a newer mobo for Dual Core.

Must admit that i had to look up MOBO:confused013 but i think if i put in a new Mobo and new processor i might as well look for a new Barebox............i hate it when things don't go my way

I thought you where considering a MAC, Roof? If so, wouldn't it be a better idea to keep going with what you have now and buy a MAC when you have the money?

Yep and still do, that's why i try to make this one a little faster to extend it's life span........

Still want the mac......but after doing a bit of searching and thinking i want the top and not the middle if that makes sense
