I remember starting a thread in 2012 about what a year for photographic gear it would be.
It’s 2018 and this year’s Photokina show is shaping up to be the most exciting it’s been in years.

Already announced products:

Nikon Z system
Nikon 500mm f/5.6 PF

Canon RF system
Canon 400mm f/2.8
Canon 600mm f/4

Fujifilm XT-3

Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM

Tokina 50mm f/1.4 Opera

Leaked:

For FF DSLRs
Sigma 28mm f/1.4
Sigma 40mm f/1.4
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8
Sigma 60-600mm

For mirrorless APS-C and m43
56mm f/1.4

Rumoured:

Panasonic FF mirrorless system

Sony A7S3
Sony 135mm f/1.8

Ricoh GR3

Fuji GFX 50R

I’m sure there are many more items I’ve missed but it seems like there’s something for every brand/system buyer although the new products do tend to look a bit high end.

A bit too many to list but Laowa has announced 8 new lenses ahead of Photokina.
4 cine lenses (3 primes and 1 zoom) and 4 m43 primes.

Exciting news for GR fans. Development announcement only and no radical changes but hey, hard to improve on an already excellent formula.

Well.. I think most of the press announcements are done.

Some big news in the L-mount alliance between Panasonic, Leica and Sigma.

Panasonic has also announced the development of 2 mirrorless FF cameras and 3 lenses at launch.

Certainly is. Soon there should be bayer and Fovean choices of FF bodies, in a mount which I think people would be far more willing to buy into than SA.
Also consider now that this will be a native mount for Sigma lenses.

Yes. There's talk about 1) Free conversion service by Σ - which I think will be cumbersome to manage - or
2) an adapter for SA bodies to take L lenses. Even if the latter involves some optical magnification that'd be
what I'd be interested in. I wouldn't think it would be much, ~1.4-ish, which is close to the 1.5 multiplier.

It seems Photokina’s not done yet.
Zeiss has a new Batis 40mm f/2 and a FF 35mm f/2 fixed lens camera.
Of note, it has an internal 512GB SSD and Lightroom CC preinstalled.
