Anyone's had their hands on the newly released Tamron 70-200mm G2? Heard the VC is legendary.

Hey Erny, where ya been?

I have the Tamron 70-200 & 24-70 f2.8 VC's and my only very minor nit is the split second it takes for the VC to lock on. Other than that I'm super impressed with both lens.

If the G2 version improves on that it should be a ripper.

Hey Kev, been dealing with something unpleasant :-(

Someone claimed they could get tack sharp photos (at 100% crop), at 200mm & 1/50 sec with the VC on (3rd mode). Quite impressive if this is true.

From all reports the new G2 is an absolute ripper, have seen a few real life, real world images from a pre-sales unit that made it's way to Australia. Not really a review or a test, just real world use

This is an old post of mine showing the detail with a big crop. Not the G2 version of course.
