I have been using my trusty Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens for my portrait work for about a year now, various publications and other photographers have been telling me to get into the Canon 85mm, so I broke down and bought one, WOW these things are seriously sharp, I can't believe it took me so long to see the light (pun intended) it has taken my portrait work up a level that's for sure.

I can't believe how sharp it is across all the apertures, there is virtually no IQ drop off across the entire image.

I love it, so far.

Congrats. Hope we get to see some photos soon, and perhaps some comments on other members photos too?

Awesome! It is a great lens and I upgraded from the 50mm f1.8 too! Haven't looked back.
I have found shooting from F2-2.8 is best and watch out for chromatic aberration (easily fixed in RAW).

Looking forward to seeing some pics.
