View Full Version : RIP EPL1...hello EPL3

I think I have mentioned here a while back that my EPL1 suffered a smashed screen.
I think it was from an altercation with my rather hefty Nikon 80-200/2.8 when my camera bag fell.

I’ve shot a bit over 24000 images on this body that cost me a mere (in photography terms) $300
Anyway the damage report from Olympus was interesting. Seems I am a bit hard on my gear :lol2:

"Slight salt residue around hotshoe mount, rusted screws inside battery and port compartments
Dust to all covers, scratches to all covers, dents and scratchs to lens mount and around shutter button."
Also some dust and marks to sensor apparently....:D

Quoted $186 for Olympus to replace screen & clean it up. I’d held back on repairing it as I had been keeping an eye on evilbay for hopefully a cheap Em5.

Thanks to a mate who knew I was looking for a replacement, I picked up an barely used EPL3 in its box for only $100 off a facebook buy/sell site!
How good is that! Having 1/4000 instead of 1/2000 max shutter will be welcome.

So RIP my EPL1 friend. Thanks for the memories

Thanks Birdman.
Yes, it was a good excuse. It's usually a cold day in hell that the wife lets me spend money on cameras :(
She still doesn't know I've had my IR modified EPM1 for about a year  shhh!
