I was wondering if any D610 (or any Nikon user really) had any advise about battery grips. I remember reading a thread before about good third party grips but can't find the thread.

Can anyone point me in the right direction about a good brand/supplier?

the phottix grips are good, if you are looking at third party

+1 to what Rick said - I've fitted grips to both of my DSLRs, one genuine and one Phottix - the genuine (Canon) does feel more robust and less "plasticky" than the Phottix, but that comes at almost 4 times the price of the Phottix - ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances. Regardless, fitting grips to my cameras was a no-brainer - I've got big mitts and the grips just make the cameras fit and be better balanced in my hands. The downside is that you now have extra weight to hold.

Ah well, life is a compromise.

I looked around at third party options, but ended up with the Nikon version. As pointed out above, it is more expensive than the other options, but the feel of the buttons, the finish and construction is the same as those on the camera body.
