I'm about to make a pretty large order from Adorama....For AP to earn a commission to go towards prizes and site costs...do I just click on the banner, go to my account and then purchase the items?

ricktas

Thats it Dom, when you click on the banner (or the link above in this thread), it registers that you clicked through from AP for your purchase, retains that until you leave the adorama site for that session

Hello

I'm looking to get some of my photos printed into a calendar. Does anyone know if any of AP's advertisers do this sort of thing? I'd love to support AP if possible.

Thankyou

Unfortunately, I don't think any of the advertisers do print calendars. I might have to look at doing some 'cold sales' emails early in 2009 to try and get us a bit more variety in the Advertisers.

From your post Terri, I have looked into this. I am currently finalising an affiliate agreement with www.snapfish.com.au to advertising on AP. Their range of products is good, and viewable here (http://www.snapfish.com.au/store). As soon as they are on board, I will post again, so if you haven't purchased at that time, you can, and earn AP some commission as well.

Ok, I know I'm a bit late with this, but I just got in the mail today some pics from Snapfish. They look really great, and great service - only took two days and that's with the standard $2.95 delivery. And yes, they do calendars - heaps of kinds actually.

Thanks Rick, I'm about to put in a bigger order over the weekend so hopefully some $$ for AP :)

Ummm... :confused013

don't wait until the good times pass??... if you find yourself anywhere near a place called Hesitation(I've looked at all my maps and I reckon it's on foreign shores :p) make sure there are no plains(or planes??..maybe?).

are the 'bones of thousands' a reference to dogs? or simply a direct analogy to the skeletal remains if you find yourself waiting for the good times(that may have just passed), waiting for a plane to land on the plains just near Hesitation?

damned! now I'm afraid to rest my weary bone for fear it'll try to commit suicide or something! :action53:
(I only have one non bleaching, weary bone.. all the others are fit and safe).

Just a note, if you click on the banners above and then make your order, AP gets commission, which all helps to give me the funds to keep the site online (hosting costs etc) and any additional monies are given back in prizes from time to time. But you have to click through to the sites from the banners on AP and then make your purchase. It doesn't cost you any more for your order, the advertisers just send a little commission my way, so if members would be kind enough to use the banner links, it would be appreciated.

That Servaas Products, who now seem to be Protog were a site sponsor, is this not the case ??

Was looking at some products they have but can get elsewhere for moderatley less so was going to push the business their way to help out here ??

Jeff is currently rebadging his business and changing the name of it is part of that process. He will be re-launching soon. In the meantime check out the new site : http://www.protog.com.au/

I found his site, I was just enquiring as to whether he is still a site sponsor, as that could sway my purchase choice.

Sort of. Jeff and I are presently renegotiating his contract due to the change of company names, website etc. New banner ads are coming, but the old ones are down cause they point to the old business name. Because I have legally binding contracts, we need to finalise it all and get it all re-signed under the new company name etc. But certainly I would not say 'don't buy from him cause he isn't an advertiser", its just that at present its a bit messy.

MarkChap

Most certainly would not - "not buy from him because he is not an advertiser" -

For once I am actually not in any great hurry to spend my money so will probably just wait until you get it all settled and then buy

Just a question and excuse my ignorance , with the likes of Digital Rev when you buy a camera and lens from them , are these what is called grey imported equipment with no australian warranty as there price for a D700 and 24-70 has almost got me ordering one right now.

Kym
20-09-2010, 10:55am
@Goatch - with any grey or OS advertiser you need to check the legals on warranty for yourself.
AP are not responsible.

As I understand things some brands have international warranty on lenses but not bodies.
Eg: http://ww2.nikon.com.au/warranty.php
http://www.nikon.com.au/pagearticle.php?pageid=65-52b9b66212

Per site rule [20] this post does not constitute legal advice :th3:

Yes, some of the site advertisers are 'grey market'. Each member should assess the services provided by any advertiser, to ensure they meet what they want.

it makes things very difficult when you live in a remote area and most people don't have a land line number. I tried to get an answer out of pay pal but their on line help is non existant and just keeps going pound in circles. The online chat agent from e Global tried his best to help.
Keith.

WhoDo
17-02-2012, 11:20pm
Unfortunately these security checks are due to the increase in fraud over the net. Eglobal are not the only ones who have this sort of protection in place.

There are also some relatively new and stringent Australian controls on financial services companies like PayPal, who now require a full identity verification including home phone (land line) and mobile among other things. I've just been through the hoops on behalf of a non-profit provider I help out with web support and there is no way around the new, more involved verification process.

It's a dilemma as many people like Keith won't pay the price of land line services and rely solely on mobile and satellite coverage.

Speedway
17-02-2012, 11:47pm
As a Pensioner the land line is an unnecessary expense that I can do without and my only choices for internet are 1. Dial Up. Super slow, useless. 2. Mobile, only with Telstra, super expensive and 3. Satellite, affordable with a few choices. As for some of the farmers the cost of getting and maintaining the line from the road to the house is prohibitive. There are some around here that still do not even have mains power let alone landline phones.

Absolutely. My son is in a similar position and simply cannot pay for a land line that he also cannot afford anyway. Many of his generation are simply ignoring wired telecommunications and everything they do to connect with the world is either wireless or via satellite.

Your dilemma was brought home to me when I was doing my wool classing certificate. The distance some had to pay for land line cables to be extended to their location was just ridiculous. I understand the concept of "user pays" but governments ought to recognise that not subsidising services to rural locations runs counter to their often reiterated desire for decentralisation of populations. :confused013

Sorry to read that Keith and they call Australia the lucky country, you would think they would subsidize landlines for people who live in remote areas.
Life must be hard for Farmers that dont have electricity connected because of the cost also.. Any wonder people wont move to country areas ?

I ordered seven items from B&H on Monday a 50mm f1/4 lens, 5 diffusers and a 16gb Memory Card
They would not let me use PayPal seems Australia is not on that list, never had that happen before with other companies.
Parcel arrived in Sydney very early yesterday morning Friday, estimated day of arrival this Thursday
I reckon it may get here before that maybe Tuesday.

I got round the problems ordering from E Global (not directly caused by them), their online chat help system works well. I ordered the canon 70-200 F2.8L is II and the 2X III Extender this morning and now nervously await their delivery. I have had a few things go astray lately 3 packages from the same company posted at the same time 2 arrived in 2 days the third took nearly 3 weeks. Also auspost's tracking system is useless only telling me my parcel was ready for delivery 3 days after it arrived and no other info on where it had been.

A very positive review from of the service and products from JJC Photography as a first time customer.

I needed a lens hood for a Fuji X100s and rather than paying the $90.00 that Fuji want for one I sent my $$ over the net for the JJC variant at $40.00
The Fuji and JJC hoods on a bayonet adaptor that screws over the lens and also incorporates a 49mm filter thread. Both the adaptor ring and hood supplied by JJC are perfectly manufactured from aluminium and the threads and bayonet mount are very precisely made.

Ordered on Sunday, delivered on Wednesday, the hood and a wired remote shutter switch that I ordered arrived with a free gift of a camera strap that would suit a small bodied camera and has a rather nice feel to it from the neoprene neck contact section.

I can see myself shopping with JJC in the future after viewing some of the gear that they have for sale. :th3:
