G'day guys and girls, just would like to know if anyone has one of these, or has used on of these lenses on a Nikon dx camera? I've got a d7100 and currently have a sigma 70-200. I'd like more reach and had looked at the nikon 300mm f4 for a bit, but would still like the flexibility of a zoom (i think). Probably looking at using my current 1.4tele and possibly purchasing a 2.0 x tele. Mostly using the lens for trips to zoo's, and would like to get into birding (preferably birds of prey). After reading a number of reviews, it looks like the sigma 120-300 has just about the best sharpness available from a lens, on the d7100, though i'd love it if soeone was to chime in and share their own experience from using one of these combinations.

Cheers :)

I haven't used this lens, but I think going by what you want and or need .. maybe it is the lens you should get.

Obviously of the slower aperture xx-400 type lenses maxing out at f/5.6 at the long end don't interest you, then this lens will probably do it for 'ya.

Are you thinking of getting one new or S/H?
If new, then just make sure it's the newer Sport series when judging each retailer's price.
If I had the cash to do it, I'd have one too.

* removed- read the site rules 3-7* have a sale on ATM, the new sports version of the 120-300 is $2970, down from its regular price of $3300. Pretty sure I read that the image quality is supposed to closely rival nikon 300f2.8 prime.

From memory, Geoff (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/member.php?8377-geoffsta) has one. Maybe send him a PM about it if he doesn't see this post.
