View Full Version : Bradley's Head Amphitheatre and Lighthouse - 8TH OR 15TH MARCH

Hi Guys. It's been awhile since our last shoot and I am struggling to come up with some new ideas. However, I have never been to Bradley's Head other than to visit the Zoo, so to my surprise, I discovered there was a lighthouse, military battlements and a great view of the Harbour Bridge, Fort Denison and the city.

If we are lucky we may get a nice sunset but I thought we could meet around 4pm for socialising and then onto some sunset shots and then maybe some light painting of the lighthouse when it gets darker. Having never been there before I have no idea of access. Opening hours are from 6am - 8pm but as far as I could see (looking at the satellite map on google) there is no gate stopping access to the area.

I suggest we bring the usual picnic stuff, light painting gear (It would be great to do some steel wool spinning but I would think there would be a total fire ban), torches, tripod, shutter release and of course your camera and lenses.

Here is a link to a Wikipedia Information page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradleys_Head

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING THIS MEET THEN PLEASE POST A REPLY IN THIS THREAD GIVING YOUR PREFERENCE FOR WHICH DAY YOU ARE ABLE TO ATTEND, 8TH OR 15TH MARCH AT 4PM ONWARDS.

The 8th is my preferred date also Karen - it will give us a chance to discuss that studio shoot.

Supervising Band Camp - been there, done that. Hope you get some sleep! :D

I won't be there until around 5pm. I totally forgot that I have a 30 Year Nurses Reunion on from 12:30 - 4:30pm. Good news is the luncheon is at Lavendar Bay so I am three quarters the way there to Bradley's Head. :D

Don't worry about a total fire ban. Reckon they're finished for Sydney this fire season. Get that steel wool out.

At this stage, I would be able to do the 15th but not the 8th. If the 15th, it would be my last AP meet before departing Sydney for the South Coast.

I just moved to Sydney from India 2 days back...
I am a leaner and really looking for a meet up to get along with people for fun and learning.
Would it be fine I join you guys on 15th? If the plan is still on..
I stay in Holsworthy and never been to CBD...have to figure out the venue.

Gear : Canon 60D,50mm f1.8, 18-55 kit lens, Nissin Di8666 flash, Battery grip, CPL, remote, tripod, extension tubes

Hi Vijay - welcome to AP. Yes, you are more than welcomed to join us. Bradley's Head is in Mosman near Taronga Zoo.

We will be meeting around 4pm in the Amphitheatre. It looks like there are two car parks but try and get to the second one as it looks to be very close to our meeting point. We usually have a bit of a social drink before while we wait for the sun to go down. Might be a good idea to bring yourself a chair, food, drink and a torch. You will also need your tripod and remote along with your camera and lenses of course. :D

Here is a link to the google map showing the amphitheatre:

Ok - so it looks like it's going to be Raccoon, Darey, peterb666 + 3, myself and possibly nimrodisease, Mr Felix, dvijay84 and sunset.

Don't forget to bring some dinner, drink and anything that we could use for light painting.

Fingers crossed for slightly cloudy weather (for a nice sunset). See you all around 4pm in the Amphitheatre. If there is a wedding on let's meet in the car park.

G'day Vijay, looks like some good photos that are worth a comment.
You'll get more feedback on them if you post some to the CC forums.
The seagull has a different perspective, so maybe post it in the bird forum.
Just in case, this shows you how to link your photos from that Flickr place ...... http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showlibrary.php?title=How_Do_I:Flickr_:_How_to_link_photos_into_Ausphotography;):)
