connecting flashgun to stand

I am trying to work out what some parts are called for flash equipment.

I want to connect a flashgun to a stand, simple enough. But as I understand it you need to connet the the flashgun to the stand with another connetion? Is there a name for it? Also want to connect an umbrella to a stand for use with flashgun.
