"Queen gives up throne for son" (http://au.news.yahoo.com/world/a/-/world/15976905/dutch-queen-beatrix-to-abdicate-in-favour-of-son/)
was the image caption on Yahoo7 website, and

"Dutch Queen Beatrix to abdicate in favour of son"
was the headline.

The article contained

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands announced Monday that she would abdicate in favour of her son...after 33 years in power.

"In power"? In the constitutional monarchy of The Netherlands?

A savvy reporter, eh!

(Didn't fool me though because I heard it more accurately on the BBC last night.)

I'm surprised they didn't mention the Central Western NSW connection...(perhaps leaving it for New Idea?)...

"It is with the greatest of confidence, that I will hand over the throne on April 30 to my son, Willem Alexander, Prince of Orange," Beatrix said in a televised address

Wow, I didn't know about the royalty a little down the road.
Cheers,
Mark, Pauper of Mudgee!

Well, if at first you don't secede, you'll never become a prince? Go on, make it the March of Mark.

If we are going to talk about Queens and royalty, perhaps you should all start addressing me by my rightful title

Nah!! stuff Charlie right orfff!

I reckon it should be young Harry at the Helm, bypassing his elder bro in the process.

Imagine life in England with Harry the Hollering Hornytoad controlling the do's and dont's of social etiquette and responsibility ... anyone for a game of pool?

Thank you. Seriously, I own some land in Scotland that along with that land comes the title. I have my own crest, registered tartan etc. Not something I use in everyday conversation in Australia cause it tends to make people think I am a pretentious ####er...:lol2:
