Turn the camera upside down when you are taking the shot and then they won't be so noticeable.

Yep, gotta do something about those ugly white streaks down the middle of the frame. Ruins a beautiful landscape shot!

And yeah, the d3s has self clean as well as the d300s which I have

The d3 is a shocker and as I'm often in the field shooting sport and changing lenses I'm really not that careful

A $90 clean yesterday and all is fine

get yoursef a Copperhill wet clean kit. It`s easy peasey to do.

the other alternative would have been semi retirement of the D3 and confined to coal mine photography only ...... and get either a D3s or D4 to replace the D3's old workload.

I tried to buy a wet cleaning kit and had no luck with the liquid part - could get everything else though.
Eventually found a site (mentioned in forums) that is in Dubbo NSW, and he sells his own kit.
Long story short, Got it and it worked a treat. Spent $90 and now have eight wipes left.
