Large format camera

Has anyone ever tried building their own Large Format Camera?
I am investigating building my own and I would be interested how other people went.

No, haven't ever tried to build one, but, I'm qurious why you would bother when they are so cheap these days. It's inconceivable to me that you could build one for less than you could buy a perfectly good (and tested) unit.

Sounds like a fun project. You could buy an old one from an antique shop and refurbish it?
