This news story mentions a virus called DNSChanger that is supposed to have lain dormant on systems for up to a year, and is due to hit on Monday apparently.
There's a link in the story to a gov.au website to check your system to see if you're affected.
I don't normally post the multitude of virus warnings that come past, but this one seems to be legit, at least to a brief check of it.

Yeah, it is legit. The DNS checker they offer has been around for a few months now, but the media are getting onto it due to the server shutdown this week.

Ta Zook.
I have run a check and have been told it's "All OK".
Anyway, will bookmark that site.

The estimate is maybe 6,000 Aussies affected? So I'd not be in a panic.
It's NOT doomsday! :confused013

Up to date AV software will have dealt with this yonks ago.

It has actaully been about since 2007, I checked my machine, despite its being a Mac, some time ago. I wonder how accurate their estimates of affected computers are? It will be interesting to see if anyone here is affected, we do have a bog member database.

Yeah, the word "Doomsday" was in the title on the news article, not my assessment of the situation. It would take a bit more than losing the internet for me to consider it "doomsday" ;)
