The time has come for me to make a website to display and or sell my photos. I don't know where to start.
Are there particular website templates/companies that do photography sites better?
I already have a website for my horses and was thinking about making another page for the photography part but I would have to pay for more web storage and I really don't know how well it would work.
If I'm going to pay for heaps of extra storage it might be better to start fresh.

website hosting is cheap:

all the above are Ausphotography site advertisers.

Then you just need to build your site (or get someone to build it for you) and get it up on your chosen hosting service.

Thanks Rick I have checked them out.
I have been told about using a photo commercial site where your photos can't be downloaded or copied for free. Where would I start looking or what do other people use? Any help would be great cos I'm a bit stuck.

some sites, like photomerchant, have the ability to right mouse click and "save as" disabled, but there are ways around that, and in any case people can just grab a screen shot.

On any site upload low res and watermarked if pics have any commercial value, most don't really.

Others not mentioned include zenfolio and smughug, picassa, redbubble, and lots others.

I use smugmug - it's not much (i.e. pretty basic), but it was prety darn easy to do, has lightroom integration, allows a private password protected delivery function and costs me about $60 per year with the only additional cost being domain name hosting - no more to pay on site building etc.

Although I don't use it to sell, I agree smugmug might be ideal, its very easy to use and no, its not complicated but probably has anything you want.
