Sorry I know there is not much notice for this but if anybody is interested in a meet next Saturday up at Mt. Wilson (2 hours from Sydney), please post here with a definite yes or no by midnight on Thursday, 26th April.
Photo opportuntities include landscape and macro shots and if any young model wants to come along we could do some portraiture work using natural light.
Besides the beautiful autumn colour, there are a number of gardens to see:

1) Yengo Sculpture Garden
2) Turkish Bath Museum in the Wynstay Estate - apparently it has beautiful handpainted glass windows.
3)Nooroo Garden
4)Bebeah Gardens
5)Windyridge gardens

There are also other points of interest:
1)Wynnes Rocks Lookout
2)DuFaurs Rocks
3)Sloan Reserve with Valder Bridge
4)St Georges Church with old graveyard.

We would meet up there at 11am and you will need to bring a packed lunch as there are no cafes. BTW - it's APPLE TIME at Bilpin now so you can pick up some apples straight off the tree.

That's a shame Karen - we'll see you at Vivid. Enjoy the scrapping - not my thing but I can see how people enjoy it.

I must say that I am very tempted to come along, Narelle. I am just hopng that it would be the best weekend for autumn colours as the autumn leaves may have already done their dash by then. I wonder if there are any people up there that could advise when they are at their best?

Last year, when we met up at Mt Tomah, the autumn leaves were just about perfect and that would be great if it could be repeated.

Lance I read on one of the garden websites that the colours are the best in the 10 day period after ANZAC Day - It's hard to tell this year how it's going with the weather being all over the place. :confused013

There haven't been any really cold days so it is quite probable that it should be OK.

Well it looks like Mary and I will be coming on this trip.
I have been to 'Windyridge gardens" before and it had heaps of colorful plants when we were there. You have to pay a small fee to get in but I think it was well worth it.
Last time I was there they were selling tea and scones in a little store on site.
Anyway, Mary and I will be at Mt Wilson at 11:00am, where are we meeting ?

Let's meet near the St Georges church - good to see someone else is coming. I was almost thinking that it wasn't going to be worth the two hour drive for just a couple of us. The weather is supposed to be a lovely 23 degrees on Sat.
Our Liquid Amber tree is just starting to turn so I think there should be some nice colour around higher up in the mountains.

I'd love to come on Saturday. I'll be at Georges Church at 11am. I've got a new D7000 to learn how to use - yippee

Well Anne there will be a couple of D7000 users there on Saturday so between us we may be able to help you.
With a little luck the colours of Autumn will be great and the weather will be kind to us.

NikonNellie

The Church is located on "The Avenue" and if I remember it is on the left as you drive into the town - its across the road from Bebeah Gardens. Glad you can come!

We always welcome anyone to our meets and we always have fun Harper.

I have done the research and compiled a map of the gardens and points of interest listed above, as well as where the toilets are.

The church is actually in Church Lane (go figure) which is at the end of The Avenue. The weather is looking very favourable, so much so that my hubby has decided to come and keep Mary company. :D

So....don't forget to bring:
Your camera
Your tripod
Your Macro and Landscape lenses
Your remote controller
Your flash if you so desire
Your Lunch and chairs (there are picnic tables in a couple of the reserves)
Your good humour :D

See you all tomorrow.

No worries Lance - the colour in the streets wasn't all that great but there was some colour in the garden we visited, mainly from the japanese maples.

Did anyone manage to get any shots of the awesome sunset that came over the mountains after we left? I could see it in the passenger side mirror all the way home.

I was driving down Blacktown Road when the sky turned great. I should have taken Greg's advice and hung around for a sunset shot. Would have been a beauty.

Nice to meet you as well Joe. Best way to learn is to post up your pics for critiquing no matter how bad you think they may be. :)
